  2. Safety issues, personnel accountability and immediate decisions
  3. Command relationships, assigned authorities and contact points
  4. Available resources, unmet needs and pending requests
  5. Documentation, reporting expectations and next scheduled briefing

Use your agency's approved briefing process and official forms when required.

Operational period planning prompts

Before the planning meeting

Confirm objectives, review situation and resource status, identify constraints, and solicit tactical and support input.

Before the operational briefing

Verify the IAP is approved and distributed, assignments are clear, communications and safety messages are included, and changes are communicated.

At the end of the operational period

Capture significant events, unresolved actions, resource changes, lessons identified, and handoff information for the incoming team.

Free field worksheets

Open these mobile-friendly worksheets, or print/save them as PDFs for use with your approved documentation process.

Official ICS resources

For authoritative ICS materials and forms, consult FEMA's ICS Resource Center. Check the current version of any form or guidance before operational use.
